Blade Style Dogear Pickups

These pickups give the tone of a vintage blade pole piece single coil pickup in a Dogear style cover.
The bridge position blade style pickup is wound clockwise and is North up.
Neck position HCC pickup has a DC resistance of approximately 7 k-Ohm, is wound counter-clockwise and is South up.
Un-slotted mild steel blade polepiece with ~ 11” radius; flat blade polepiece or other radius available for an additional $5.00 per pickup.
Custom winding is available for an additional $5.00 per pickup.
42 or 43 gauge magnet wire can be specified- call or email Pete for details.
Scatter wound coils
External braided shielded output leads
Grounded shielding surrounding the coil effectively reduces noise from external electric fields
Potted under vacuum to eliminate microphonics
Neck pickup is reverse polarity reverse wound (RWRP. My current design for these pickups allows the owner to change the magnets with ease. I ship these pickups with two complete sets of magnets. Magnet types available include: AlNiCo-II, AlNiCo-III, AlNiCo-V and ceramic-8. The AlNiCo-II magnets give a warm vintage tone, the AlNiCo-III magnets boost output and give a little sharper attack. There are two styles of plastic covers available for V V G balde style dogear pickups; I make pickups that match both of these styles.

Style 1: Covers for the neck and bridge pickups are the same height (approximately 0.4" (or 13/32") tall) and have the same pole spacing.

Style 2: The bridge pickup cover is the same as in Style 1, but the neck pickup cover is less tall (~3/32") and has a narrower pole spacing.
